"Building A Better America" a warm, comforting phrase
seen on Christmas In April bumper stickers all over the country,
might be equally appropriate on a bumper sticker for the Association of Building
Contractors!
The
members of ABC have been partners with Christmas in April, now, REBUILDING DAY since the inception of the annual rehabilitation project back in 1995. Each year
the ABC and its members have contributed to the year-long planning and
organization of this wonderful example of community spirit. Together, we have
helped improve the homes of over 100 mountain communities' homeowners by making
their lives warmer, safer and more independent. ABC members contribute
not only as professionals in their respective trades, but also on the REBUILDING DAY Board of Directors and Rim Of The World Association of Realtors
fundraising events.
On the National Rebuilding Day, the men and women of the ABC
(along with 300-350 community volunteers) travel across our mountain communities
from Cedar Pines Park and Valley of Enchantment, through Crestline and Twin Peaks,
to Lake Arrowhead and Cedar Glen and on to Running Springs and Arrowbear to serve
and help unite all our mountain communities.
It
is because of the Association of Building Contractors members' generous
commitments of talent, skill, professionalism and community that we are able to
continue to provide warmer, safer and more independent living conditions for deserving
elderly and disabled homeowners in our communities.
The
goals of Rebuilding Day are two-fold:
1)
To improve quality of life for our elderly and/or disabled citizens,
and
2) To create an avenue of service for our community members
at large whereby they can reach out to those less fortunate and make a real impact
in someone else's life!!!
Financial
sponsorship comes from local businesses, community service organizations, private
individuals, and foundations. Through the combined efforts of many individuals,
our "neighbor-helping-neighbor" volunteers make it possible
for homeowners to live in safe, comfortable environments, independently and with
dignity.
